【原文】 夫不法法则治。法者天下之仪也，所以决疑而明是非也，百姓所县命也。故明王慎之，不为亲戚故贵易其法，吏不敢以长官威严危其命，民不以珠玉重宝犯其禁。 《禁藏》

【汉解】 不废法才能管好国家。法，是天下的仪表，是用来解除疑难而判明是非的，是与百姓生命攸关的。所以明君对于法非常慎重，绝不为亲故权贵而改变法律，他的官吏也就不敢利用长官权威破坏法令，百姓也就不敢利用珠宝贿赂触犯禁律。

【英译】Indeed, if one does not neglect law, good order will prevail. Law sets standards of good form throughout the realm, is the means to resolve doubts and clarity right and wrong, and is that on which the fate of the hundred surnames depends. Therefore the enlightened kings paid close attention to it and would not alter it even for the sake of relatives or old and valued friends. Government functionaries did not dare use their high office or awesome presence to undermine commands, and the people did not dare use pearls, jade, and precious objects to circumvent prohibitions.
